On Saturday, 8th of April, 2023, fifty (50) folklore and dance performers from the Strumica region of North Macedonia participated at the Festival of Municipality of Strumyani in Bulgaria. On the stage in the Municipality of Strumyani (Bulgaria) they presented traditional Macedonian songs and dances dressed in traditional Macedonian costumes.
The festival of the Municipality of Strumyani is a festival with long tradition and is organized annually by the Municipality of Strumyani. This year, as part of the project “The living cultural heritage of two nations on one scene”, participation of fifty (50) folk and dance performers from North Macedonia was ensured in order to create network and friendship among youths in the cross-border region (District of Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria and Southeast region, North Macedonia), as well as to show the unique traditions and to support the organization of traditional festivals as a main method of preserving the living cultural heritage.
This project is co-financed by the European Union and the national funds of the participating countries in the Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020.
During the festival, the EU source of funding was appointed and promoted in order to inform the public.
