On 24.06.2023 (Saturday) and 25.06.2023 (Sunday), within the framework of the project “The living cultural heritage of two nations on one scene”, a two-day Joint Event “Youths teaching Youths” was organized and held in Mikrevo, Municipality of Strumyani, Bulgaria. At the event, 5 youths from Strumica region (local folk performers) along with a professional choreographer, presented Macedonian culture through the history of the Strumica carnival (customs, long tradition and legends for the Carnival in Strumica). Twenty (20) youth people from Bulgaria participated at the event, at the same time building friendship and raising their knowledge about the living cultural values of Macedonia. Total of 26 participants attended the event in Mikrevo.

During the event, presentation of the holiday “Trimeri” (meaning, history and customs) which is characteristic for the Strumica region was made as well as exchange of experience of participation in a cultural events of similar scale was made between the attendees.

Further, there were practical performances and presentation of the steps of traditional folk dances typical for Southeast Region by the youths from Macedonia as well as performances and practice of traditional folk dances typical for Southeast Region of Macedonia by all participants at the event.

The project “The living cultural heritage of two nations on one scene” is co-funded by the European Union and by National Funds of the Participating Countries under the Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Bulgaria – North Macedonia 2014-2020.

During the two-day Joint Event in Mikrevo, Bulgaria, the EU source of funding was appointed and promoted in order to inform the public.
